FORD 2N 8N 9N 6 VOLT TO 12 VOLT CONVERSION KIT. This is a Brand New 6 Volt to 12 volt Alternator Conversion Kit. You can convert yourself the original Ford 6 Volt System of your tractor to 12 Volts. Alternator Converson Kit, with 12-volt coil. For models with front mount distributor. AKT0001 Alternator Kit Installation Instructions. Remove the existing generator, voltage regulator, mounting brackets and wiring necessary for this installation. Install mount with 3/8 offset facing forward, oriented horizontally toward the water pump. Install mount with 90 degree end on the two right front head bolts. It is mounted so that the narrow side goes to the alternator, preventing the bracket from coming in contact with the fan.

Next the alternator can be installed. The wide mounting foot of the alternator fits this mount. The included resistor can be used if needed with the included 12V coil. The wiring harness can now be installed (please refer to drawing).

Reverse the wires on the ammeter. All lights MUST be changed to 12V bulbs. BATTERY MUST BE INSTALLED WITH NEGATIVE GROUND. Check to see if there is power at the battery terminal on the back of the alternator. This should receive constant power.

There should also be constant power at the coil when the key is turned on. Start the tractor and increase engine speed until the alternator starts charging.

It may be necessary increase engine RPM to attain charge. If the alternator does not charge, re-check all steps of the installation. If manual excitation of the alternator is necessary, momentarily feed battery power to the D+ terminal at the back of the alternator using a jumper wire attached to the alternator battery stud.
