However, these applications often feature an OE shock (or strut) mounting position that allows for a coilover shock (or strut) to simply be a direct bolt-in replacement. That or the vehicle may be running an aftermarket full frame or front subframe setup designed for coilover shock use. In the case of some vehicles, like the First, Second, and Third generation Chevy C10 suspension, the OEM front suspension design does not provide for a bolt-in replacement shock solution, as the front shock is mounted between a frame stud and the lower control arm outside of the upper and lower control arm and coil spring arrangement. While this makes servicing the OE shock easy, the aft mounting points do not allow for a simple C10 coilover kit conversion. Our bolt-in LevelSetT C10 coilover conversion kit provides a cost effective coilover shock solution using easy to install upper and lower adapter brackets mounted to the lower control arm and the truck's frame.
Laser Cut Steel Brackets Provide a Precise Fit and High Strength Mounting Solution. Relocating the shock mounting points within the lower control arm and the frame's original crossmember's coil spring cup requires a strong mounting solution that will not flex or fail under not only static ride height, but during suspension articulation as well. We designed our bolt in shock brackets for C10 coilovers with the utmost strength using a combination of laser cut struts made from 5/16-inch thick steel plate welded to a 7-gauge laser cut and press bent mounting plate. The complete assembly is then fixture welded for accurate fitment and placement of the coilover shock assembly. The mounting plates are designed to be used with our C10 tubular control arms and align with factory mounting holes for the OE upper control arms on the frame rail and the new lower control arm's steel spring cup support plate that spans the tubular arm. Drilling/grinding of the old upper control arm rivets and grinding/cutting a clearance opening on the crossmember's coil spring cup for coilover shock body/spring clearance is required and can be accomplished with standard automotive tools like a die grinder, small belt sander, or rotary tool. No welding or other fabrication needs are required to add our C10 coilover kit.The upper and lower coilover mounts are powder coated satin black for a great appearance and corrosion protection from the elements. We designed our C10 coilover conversion brackets around these shocks, which feature a 14-inch extended length and a 4-inch stroke with 1-inch wide rod ends top and bottom. For C10 coilover kit springs, we provide Hpercoil's blue powder coated lightweight steel springs. These feature an 8-inch free height with a 2.50-inch inside diameter. Spring rates will vary depending on your application needs, which is why we offer 900, 1000, and 1200 lb/in rate spring kits for you to choose from.
