Module to remove suspension warning light. 2010 Jaguar XJ, 2011 Jaguar XJ, 2012 Jaguar XJ, 2013 Jaguar XJ, 2014 Jaguar XJ, 2015 Jaguar XJ, 2016 Jaguar XJ, 2017 Jaguar XJ, 2018 Jaguar XJ, 2019 Jaguar XJ. Also fits XJL models with long wheelbase. Is built with the following suspension components.
Air Struts (x2) - A type of shock absorber, filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to dampen vibration and reduce bounciness. Mounted on each of the struts are rubber air springs that inflate to support the weight of the vehicle. The rubber air springs take the place of steel coil springs that most vehicles have. Air Lines - Tubes that carry pressurized air from a compressor to the rubber air spring portion of each strut to adjust the height of the vehicle. Solenoids (x4) - Usually L-shaped, these plastic components work along with the suspension control module on vehicles with active suspension. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air spring. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean. This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive workload will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor. Compressor - Creates and sends pressurized air to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated.
By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Dryer Assembly - Used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.
Suspension Control Module - A computer that is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height. O-rings - Although they are the least expensive parts of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the air lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system. The most common sign is a sudden drop of three to five inches of ride height on any of the wheels or different heights from one side to the other of the XJ. You may walk out to your car after work and see the rear end or front end of the vehicle sagging. Maybe the body is leaning to the left or right side in an unusual manner. If you have a suspension total failure, your air compressor will begin to wear out.If it is no longer working, or running too much (it will be very noticeable), then this also points to a bad air suspension. Look for an illuminated suspension warning light or message in the instrument cluster. If your Jaguar XJ can not consistently reach and hold its appropriate ride height, you may be in need of repair or, worst case scenario, total replacement. The XJ might not be safe to take out on the road, as it may not handle even the smallest road bumps effectively.
